Is my woodlot a good place for deer?
Yes, especially your maple–yellow birch stand along the stream to the west, which provides good winter cover. Your 4 deer sightings from last fall are all there.
I suggest installing a trail camera there to confirm how often they pass through. In winter, deer move very little: they need dense softwood cover — fir, hemlock or cedar — within 200 metres of their food.

But it's your woodlot, and the decisions are yours. Fyri equips owners who want to act more independently, with full knowledge of the facts. It gathers your woodlot's data, explains what you observe there and helps you document the actions you take to reach your goals.
When you want a professional opinion, a forester is an important ally: Fyri also lets you work with yours, if you choose to.
Regular price: $15/month up to 30 ha, plus $0.25 per additional hectare. First trial quarter: $0.25/ha for three months, with no base fee.
No. With an independent account, you survey your woodlot yourself with the app.
Soon, you'll be able to upload it to your independent account: Fyri will pull the useful information from it. You can also use Fyri with your forester.
If you want to keep working with your preferred forester, Fyri supports their expertise by giving you a more dynamic way to view and evolve the data in the forest management plan they prepared for you. Enter their name in the form: we'll contact them to introduce Fyri.
At each observation point, you measure six trees: 5 to 7 minutes per point. Allow about 4 to 6 hours for a 40-hectare woodlot, in one or more outings, at your own pace.
The app works offline. Your surveys and photos stay on your phone and sync when you're back.
